Polar Bear WIP

I have just completed a polar bear and he will be available soon after I take some nice pictures of him.

Below are 2 images of him before and after. You can see how much different the bear has become when you add more details to him.

Before details are added

Almost done with more details added
I am extremely pleased of him. I know one day, I will become even better as long as I didn't give up trying. The more I do, I am sure I will get there someday!
(Self-motivational thoughts) :)

Hope you like my new bear!

Singapore Teddy Bear Lovers Gathering cum Anna Filatova Farewell BBQ Dinner

We are sad to hear that our Russian Teddy Bear Artist friend, Anna Filatova and her husband, Andrey will be leaving Singapore in May this year for another country.

Andrey and Anna

A BBQ gathering was organized at her apartment to bid farewell to her and husband. This time, a small group of 8 people, namely Philip, Esther, Su Ling, Ivy, Anna, Andrey, Marcia and me attended this gathering.

A BBQ Feast!

We are very thankful to Esther, who does most of the cooking and marinating for the chicken wings, corns and bacon with asparagus roll. The food she has prepared were really tasty, probably the nicest I have ever eaten so far! Ivy's first attempt to make a salad was a success. There were so much ingredients and was very colourful!  It was soon finished by everyone.

Philip and Andrey on the other hand were busy setting up fire for the BBQ Pit, it took approximately 20 mins for the fire to start due to their inexperience. It was their first time using Kingsford Briquets which doesn’t need lighter fluid unlike lump charcoal. After making many attempts, the fire started to glow within the charcoal and very soon we were ready to cook!

We had so much to eat! There were sausages, chicken wings, otah, salad, toasted bread, mee hoon, satay, pork chop and a huge water melon purchased by Andrey! Andrey skilfully sliced the water melon and gave each of us a big piece. We decided to took a group photo with our slices of watermelon!

Everyone with a big slice of watermelon, say cheese!

After the meal, Anna came out with a game for all to play. It was a guessing game. Each of us drew a piece of paper with a hidden word and had to act out the word for all to guess! It was very funny seeing how everyone acted hilariously and the answers given by the audience.

Su Ling in the act!

After the game, we took out our precious bears and dolls to share with everyone.

The Singapore Teddy Bear Lovers wishes Anna and Andrey Bon Voyage and all the best in their future endeavours.

Bon Voyage Andrey and Anna!

Do come back and visit us again when you are back in SingaporeWe hope that you have an enjoyable time here in Singapore and we will miss you!

Wonderful Birthday celebration at the Night Safari

On my special day, I decided to pay a visit to the Night Safari with my best friend Philip, to celebrate my Birthday. I was really excited as it was my first time going to the Night Safari.

The Night Safari is located just next to the Singapore Zoo. It is the world’s first nocturnal zoo which opened in 1994. Wow, I can’t believe it’s my first visit since it opened 20 years ago!

As the day falls, we took a bus from Ang Mo Kio Interchange to the Night Safari, reaching at about 6pm. I was pleasantly surprised to know that admission is free if you visit the zoo on your Birthday! I was also entitled to a free scoop of ice cream!

Upon entering the Night Safari, we were greeted by a long queue of people waiting to take the tram ride. It took us about 30 minutes before we were able to get onto the tram. It was an enjoyable ride as it was a guided tour with explanation on the animals’ habitats, diet and lifestyle. The tour guide warned us not to use flash lights while taking pictures as it may frighten the animals and cause blindness to them.

As the tram moves along the trail, certain sections allowed the animals to stroll freely without any barriers between us. We can see the animals just right next to us! There were cattles, deers, buffalos and other animals who were strolling nonchalantly while the tram drove past slowly. They were so close that we can even touch them!

Some of the nocturnal animals we encountered include the Owls, Slow Loris, Sugar Gliders, Bats and Hyenas. Some other animals which we can also see in the Singapore Zoo during the day include Moon Bears, Lions, Wallaby, Flying Fox and Snakes.

The highlight of the trip was the Creatures of the Night Show which is held every hourly. The host of the show was funny and we had a great time seeing animals coming out to perform. Below is one of the scenes taken at the show.

It was also an educational and eco-friendly show, with animals helping to throw metal cans on the floor into the respective recycling bins. The message that they are driving home is everyone has to play a part in the 3Rs – Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to visiting again soon…… on my Birthday next year!!
