Reynard the Baby Fox now available for adoption!

We are very pleased to introduce a brand new creation named Reynard!

A few weeks ago, Wayne posted an image of a piece of beautiful fur and a pair of green doll eyes on Facebook. His doll teacher, Carmel saw and made a comment: "Wow, these would be a nice combination to make a fox!"

Without hesitation, Wayne replied - Challenge Accepted!

Wayne loves to create, this is probably what he feels he enjoys the most. Every morning when he wakes up, he would ask himself - What am I going to create today?!

Creating a fox is definitely one of the many to-do items in his wish list, he thought if not now, when?!

Hence, he took this opportunity to challenge himself again. He looked into books on Taxidermy and internet images for references to get inspiration.

Although the final outcome seemed a little different from his expectations, he was very pleased with his creation. He could proudly tell everyone, this is probably the best he has ever made till date!

The highlight of the fox, features a locline armature built on his limbs and a long locline armature which links from the head, spine and tail.

His paws and foot pads are appliqued with needle sculpting techniques.

The most intricate part is the use of glass doll eyes and the full needle felted face. Each strand of fur on his face is inserted individually to give a unique expression to the baby fox.

Wayne also applied air brushing to give shading and tones to the body of the fox. A blue jumper outfit is also specially designed by Wayne to fit his playful attitude.

Reyard is now available on our website. Do check him out!

We hope you will like him as much as we do. We look forward to more exciting creations this year!

Hugs,
Wayne

Lucky Puppy Workshop, 21 & 28 January 2018

To commemorate the Year of the Dog, Wayneston Studios conducted a brand new Puppy Workshop - "Lucky". The two-day workshop saw five students namely, Carmel, Joanne, Bernadette, Fei and Nicole joining the class.

The puppy workshop took slightly longer to complete, as compared to making a conventional teddy bear. Nevertheless, the five students were determined and managed to finish their creations on their own.

We were happy to have Carmel and Bernadette coming back for more bear making sessions. They both took this chance to ask more questions and enhanced their skills as they refreshed their memory of what they had learnt during their first class with Wayne last year.

L-R: Joanne, Bernadette, Fei, Carmel and Nicole

Lucky is looking at them!
As for Fei and Joanne, it was their very first time sewing and learning how to make a "Teddy Bear"from scratch. Wayne shared with them the basic sewing techniques and to their credit, they were able to pick up the skills quickly.

Nicole, a self taught bear maker

Nicole, a self taught bear maker, already has some Teddy Bear making knowledge. To-date she has made more than seven bears, an impressive feat! She joined the class to better learn and understand how to improve her skills.

Everyone was very patient and excited during the creative process, with Wayne happy to see the final results, as the "puppy creations" turned out truly well.

Congratulations to Nicole for completing your very first puppy!

Congratulations Joanne!

Bernadette is happy to complete her first puppy!

We would like to thank Carmel, Bernadette, Fei, Joanne and Nicole again for joining the class. We hope Lucky the puppy will bring them loads of luck and prosperity in the coming Lunar New Year.

Wishing all a WOOFderful and blessed Happy Lunar New Year!

Cheers,
Wayne

Softie Bear Workshop at Yumin Primary School, 27 January 2018

Wayneston Studios was invited to Yumin Primary School last Saturday to share the art of Teddy Bear Making. This is the second time we have reached out to schools and we are truly honored to have this experience.

This is the biggest group we have conducted so far. This event has engaged 38 students ranging from 7 to 12 years old, along with 38 parents participating.

At 8.30am sharp, students and parents entered the class promptly and quickly settled down. Our team distributed the Teddy Bears to the students, seeing the excited faces on the little ones.

Wayne gave a short introduction and instructions to follow as they commenced. The students inserted the nose and stuffed their Teddy Bears with poly-fiber and the parents helped them to sew and attach the arms and eyes. In the two hour session, we observed and saw that parent and child spent a great deal of time communicating with one another. We saw both cohesive team work and close parent and child bonding, as they completed the Teddy Bears together.

At the end of the class, the students tied a ribbon around the neck of the bears and Wayne gave each a Certificate of Completion for them to write the name of their Teddy Bear and their birth date.

We would like to thank the parents for writing compliments on the feedback forms, as your feedback is very important to us. Adrian from Primary 4 even penned a lovely message for us on the white board. Thank you very much Adrian!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Yumin Primary School and Mrs Singh for hosting this workshop and the active participation of the enthusiastic parents to make this a successful event.

We look forward to working with Yumin Primary School again in the near future.

Cheers,
Wayneston Studios & Team
