It has been a sad week for all the citizens in Singapore. On Monday 23 March 2015, we received breaking news of our Forefather, Mr Lee Yuan Yew's passing. Due to his old age and illness, Mr Lee aged 91, has passed away peacefully on Monday at the Singapore General Hospital.
As a form of respect to our late former prime minister, my friend Philip and I went to the Parliament house on Thursday evening where the laying-in-state body was placed, to pay our last respects.
Look at the crowd behind us!!! There are thousands of people here! |
Both of us had anticipated the long queue but it didn't deterred us at all. The queue was extremely long, stretching all the way to City Hall MRT Station. After waiting patiently in line for approximately 6.5 hours, we finally got to enter the Parliament House to pay our last respects.
I even wrote a card for Mr Lee, as a token of appreciation for what he has done for us. Without him and his team working tirelessly, we would not have such a wonderful place in Singapore to live and stay with our family and friends.
Thank you once again, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore is forever in your debt.

Dear Mr Lee,
Thank you for all that you have done for Singapore. I am very proud to be a Singaporean.
I am glad to have a good education, lovely home and many wonderful friends of different countries, different races and religion.
The Teddy Bear on this card is handmade by me. I am really glad to have been able to follow my dream to become a toy designer.
My deepest condolences to the Lee family. I will continue to pursue my dreams and hope that someday my creations can do Singapore proud.
Hugs, Wayne Lim
