Birthday Swap with Kati Kainulainen

Last month, we posted on our blog a swap proposal for my birthday in April.

We are very excited to receive 2 emails from different artist who are interested to do a swap with us.

Today we would like to share our first swap with Ms Kati Kainulainen.

Profile about Kati:
Kati is a talented ceramic and glass designer based in Kuopio, Finland. She loves everything tiny and one of her dearest hobbies are doll houses and miniatures in scale 1:12.

She has been a miniature & ceramics artist for over 10 years. She uses plaster molds and liquid clay in her works.

Miniature Ceramic Art by Kati Kainulainen

Kati sent me a few sets of miniature ceramics pottery & a bath tub for our birthday and in return, we sent her a 2.5 inch tall miniature kitty named Miuku-Mauku.

You may view more of Kati's works and creations on her blog: www.lasituvanminiatyyrit.blogspot.com

Facebook: www.facebook.com/KatisDollsHouseCeramics/

Miuku-Mauku is named by Kati as it sounds like Miau which symbolises cat. This is our very first time creating a small jointed animal and it's pretty challenging to create one due to it's small size. We are very pleased with our first attempt to make a miniature cat specially for Kati and she is pleased with him too.

Miuku-Mauku is now on his way to Finland to met his new mum.

We want to take this opportunity to thank Kati for the wonderful gifts! We are happy to have her miniatures added into our collection, and soon we will look into expanding and exploring the world of minis!

Look at Miuku-Mauku standing in the bath tub and having a tea party with items all made by Kati. He looks very happy doesn't he?

We look forward to our 2nd swap with Ms Susan Leigh, an Australian artist, so stay tuned!
Thank you for visiting us today, have a wonderful day!

Tommy the kitten now available for adoption!

Can you remember when was the last time I created a kitten? Well, that was way back in April 2011! This is the 3rd kitten I have made so far, he looks pretty cute doesn't he? I am really pleased with how he turned out to be. ^.^

This sweet little kitten is named Tommy. Remember the "Talking Tom" mobile app which has been pretty popular, especially with many kids? Yes, Tommy's name is inspired from the app!

Tommy is approximately 7.5 inches tall, made from beautiful viscose mohair with 2 different tones of grey. His face and tummy are made from white alpaca.

Just to highlight some special features of Tommy, he has a pair of hand painted sparkling glass eyes, a needle felted nose, wired tail and needle sculpted paw and foot pads.

I have also handmade a pointy wizard hat made from felt. I wanted to make a kitten which can relate to the Halloween happening this month.

We hope you will like our new creation today.

Have a great week ahead!

Tommy is now available for adoption at:

Wayneston Kitten, Creamsicle

Creamsicle is a chubby kitten that I have specially created for a collector in US. She is the first thing that I have been working on since I am back from my Thailand trip. I have redesign her from the Melissa kitten pattern. She is made from soft Japanese alpaca fur, and I have given her hand painted eyes with glitters and colour shadings to her body.

Bye bye Creamsicle, I will miss you!

In the process of making Creamsicle, I took some pictures with my iphone.

Cutting out her pattern and setting test eyes

Setting her hand painted eyes

Jointing and stuffing

Sewn her ears and closing her openings after stuffing.
Shadings are given to her lastly to enhance her looks.
I really love the way she turns out to be =) I hope you enjoy viewing her pictures.

Meow! A new friend is in town!

Meow Meow Meow... Let's welcome a new friend! =)
Her name is Melissa, a Wayneston Cat that I have made specially for Halloween.

I had always wanted to make a cat and was planning to make one for Friday the 13th... however she is was ready for Halloween instead! I guess she enjoys the party more than I do. LOL

I have made her a orange collar which was inspired by the pumpkim and I have also made her a "Jack O Balloon". Her body was a 4 piece design, therefore she looks more chubby than the rest of the Wayneston bears... all i can say is that i fed her very well :p

To see more her pictures and details please check my bear pile for more information.

Have great weekend my friends =)
