Fun Fur Day 10 June 2017

The Fun Fur Day held on 10 June welcomed a total of 10 members!

To make the event more engaging, we invited artists to give a short presentation to share their works.

We were pleased to have Casey Chen with us. Casey is a well-known multi-disciplinary artist who has more than 20 years of experience in the design industry. He is actively involved in the Singapore and International art and design scenes in a number of different areas - brand, furniture, jewellery, product design, sculpture and authorship of two books.

Casey shared his current interest in coin ring making. He even demonstrated to us how to easily punch a hole into a coin! He also showed his "Cloud" expresso cup. After his presentation, he also generously donated 2 of his storybook "Little Red Riding Hood Lah" to 2 lucky draw winners.

After Casey's representation, Wayne too gave a short introduction on Artist Teddy Bears and Singapore Teddy Bear Club to Lillian, Michelle and Carmel who were new to the group.

We were very pleased to have Carmel, who is a doll teacher, joining us. She brought lots of her handmade polymer clay dolls to share with us.

After the meet-up, we had a group photo taken together. We are thankful to all who came to make this event a success! We look forward to meeting everyone again our next event!

Fun Fur Day & Lunar New Year Gathering 21 January 2017

We had a successful Fun Fur Day event last weekend with a total of 12 attendees!

This time, we have special guests - Anna Filatova and Andrey Blokhin from Russia! To our surprise, their new born son Peter who is just 7 months old joined our gathering!

We were all excited to meet them again as the last time we met was more than 2 years ago! The dinner was held in Keisuke Tokyo, a ramen restaurant. We were grateful to have a private room for our gathering!

We were all surprised and excited when we saw Peter. He has a pair of beautiful eyes and everyone couldn't stop looking at him. Very soon, Peter was passed around for everyone to have a closer look. Peter was well behaved and comfortable being with strangers as he was giggling the whole time.

Esther also introduced her relative, Eileen Tan, to the group. Eileen specialises in crochet and knitting, showing us some of her beautiful bears and wearable art.

We were also pleased to welcome Evelyn back to our gathering as she was overseas for over 6 months!

Anna told us that our group's skill in Bear making has improved since the last time we met. Although she wasn't in Singapore with us, she has been following us closely and saw improvements of our works through social media. We were also delighted that she agreed to be the judge for our Christmas Bear Competition in 2017.

After dinner, we decided to have coffee at Cedele Bakery, which is around the vicinity. We sat down to have coffee and cakes, mingling and catching up with each other.

Su Ling and Ivy, who are Anna's collectors, brought some of Anna's bears to take a group photo together with Anna. We posed for pictures and at then the end of it all, took a group photo.

At 10pm, we bid goodbye our dear friends and we hope to meet Anna and Andrey in Singapore again. Who knows, perhaps we might visit them in Russia instead!

Fun Fur Day 13 March 2016

The Fun Fur Day last Sunday attracted a total of 14 people. This was our very first time having such a big crowd!

We had friends from Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Italy, China and Malaysia. As most of the attendees were new to the group, Wayne gave a short introduction of the Singapore Teddy Bear Club. It was truly a wonderful experience as all of us shared our experiences and learn different countries cultures.

The gathering was held at Joe & Dough, which was spacious for us to display our Teddy Bears while at the same time enjoy good coffee and pastries.

It was the first time for the new people namely, Peter (Hungary), Adularahman (Saudi Arabia), Fangzhu (China), Anna (Russia), Serena (Italy) and Hayley (Malaysia) to make close contact and mingle with Teddy Bear Artists and Artist Bears. They were pleasantly surprised to find such a niche community in Singapore and were intrigued by the various types of Teddy Bears on display.

They began to mingle with the regulars to learn more about the process of bear making and what makes us come together to share this art.

Wayne also shared and gave them a brief insight on the types of materials used to create a teddy bear and the different styles of teddy bears made by different artists.

At the end of the day, everyone gathered to take a group photo with the Teddy Bears.

We want to thank everyone who attended the event and look forward to seeing everyone again soon in the next Fun Fur Day!

The first Fun Fur Day event!

The first Fun Fur Day was held last Sunday at Kallang Wave Mall, a new shopping mall which opened last year.

We were very excited to welcome 2 new Teddy Bear Enthusiasts namely Joyce and Audrey.

Joyce proudly shared with us some of her creations. She is very well verse in crotchet, knitting and sewing. She showed us her crotchet bears and a miniature mohair bear!

We are so happy to know another bear maker here in Singapore.

Audrey on the other hand, was interested in Teddy Bear, which made her join this event. She showed us a bear which is well-loved and needs some medical attention.

Unfortunately, we can't help her to fix the bear. All of us advised her was to keep the bear in it's current condition and make another new bear similar.

Wayne will help Audrey to look for a Teddy Bear Hospital and pray for its revival.

We displayed our bears and dolls on the table. It generated some curious stares from people sitting at other tables. Some even came and took a name card from Wayne!

The objective of organising more of such events is to promote hand crafts appreciation especially Teddy Bears to the public.

Evelyn shared with us one of her dolls which she had learned from a teacher, while Chio shared a few of his new fabric bears. They are all adorable and everyone got a chance to hold everyone's creations.

We want to thank Evelyn, Chio, Philip, Joyce and Audrey for joining this event. We hope to see more Enthusiasts next time!
