Make-a-Mouse Workshop 18 & 25 October

Wayneston Studios is happy to have Marcia back again to make a mouse this time!

Marcia and her cute little mouse!

Marcia adopted a Wayneston Mouse, Scruffy few years ago and has always wanted to make another friend for him.

Making a mouse has some different techniques apart from the bear workshop she attended previously. After cutting out the pattern, Wayne showed Marcia how to shave of the fur on the face, paws and feet of the mouse.

Wayne also taught her how to make a wired tail and sewing it onto the body.

With Marcia's bear making experience, making a mouse is a breeze! After the mouse is completed, Marcia gave the mouse light colour shadings to enhance the expression and add whiskers onto his cheeks.

Make-a-Mouse Workshop, 7 & 14 October 2017 ~ Bernadette's new mouse!

Wayneston Studios welcome a new student, Bernadette!

Bernadette got to know about us during her trip to Melbourne last month when she visited a Teddy Bear Shop (Bear Essence). The shop owner, Kim Garratt,  told her about Wayne's new shop in Singapore.  Surprised, she came to look for us as soon as she returned to Singapore.

She signed up for the Mouse workshop as she wanted a refresher course to start making bears again. The last time she made one was probably 17 years ago.

Many students who visited Wayne's shop share a similar story as Bernadette. Most of them stopped making bears when bear shops close down. They lost their friends who used to love making bears and eventually discontinue the hobby when they can't find bear-making supplies anymore or someone who can coach them. Wayne is glad to have a shop to continue sharing the joy of bear-making with everyone.

Although Bernadette has made about 10 teddy bears in the past, this is the first time she made a mouse!

Wayne wass very happy to know that she could still remember the basic stitches to hold the fabrics together. He shared with her how to joint the mouse together, embroider the nose and even sewing whiskers onto it's cheek.

After the mouse was completed, she bought another piece of fur to make another mouse so as to keep the other mouse company!

Thank you Kim for sharing our shop information to our Singaporean friends! Thank you Bernadette for sharing your story with us and joining our class. We had a great time making the mouse together. We look forward to seeing you again in your next class with Margaret Burke.

Hugs,

Wayne

Make a Mouse Workshop 7 & 14 June 2015

Yet another workshop was sucessfully completed over two weekends (7 & 4 July 2015). We had great company this time round. Attending the Make a Mouse workshop were Chio, Evelyn and Winnie.

As all three of them have made Teddy bears before, it was not too difficult for them to pick up making a mouse. In fact, it can be considered as a refresher course as they did back stitching, ladder stitching and other techniques learned previously.

Even so, they were excited to work on a new pattern as they had never made a mouse before. Some new things they learned included how to make the wired mouse tail, sewing the ears onto the head of the mouse, as well as sewing the whiskers onto the cheeks of the mouse.

The 3 of them were able to pick up quickly without much assistance. Wayne showed them how to improve the stuffing for the mouse's head as having a firmly stuffed head would give the mouse a nice embroidered nose.

After they have completed their mice, everyone gathered to have a group photo taken to mark the successful completion of the workshop.

We want to thank Chio, Evelyn and Winnie for their support and participation in this event. We do hope to see you again in the near future!

Till then...... Good bye!

Hugs, Wayne

Three Wayneston Mice are on their way to UK!

One of our regular collectors has adopted three of our latest mice creations! We are happy that they will be living with their friends and new parents in UK.

Hi! My name is Benedict

Mice to meet you!

My name is Dorinn.

How are you today?

Hey! I am Samuel!

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for coming to visit us!
The collector even wrote us a lovely poem again this time! Thank you Mick and Jane for the sweet thoughts, it really makes our day :)

On a plane to England
Three mice sit quietly
There's Samuel and Benedict
And Dorinn that makes three
They all are so excited
As they never flown
It's going to be great fun for them
To have a brand new home
There will be a great big party
When they get there
And all the mice at Mousehole
Will give a great big cheer

Hugs, Wayne
