Fun with Pico Dragons

This is the very first time Wayneston Studios has organised such an event!

Last week, Wayneston Studios hosted "Fun with Pico Dragons" and we were excited to see four participants attending the event.

L-R: Chio, Wayne, Philip, Su Ling and Carmel

To join this event, participants purchased a Plamodel Pico Dragon (Viloet or Ashes) from Wayneston Studios and enjoyed the complimentary session to D.I.Y and apply basic make-up on their Pico dragon.

The participants were all very friendly and we had a great time assembling and customising our unique Pico Dragon! First, we gave the dragons light sanding with fine graded sand papers and used a dry paint brush to apply pastel colours onto the various areas which we wanted to highlight. Lastly after the shading, we gave the dragon a coat of glitter for the finishing touches and prayed fixatives to seal the paint. In a few hours, the dragons all appeared to be colourful and painted in our unique style!

Pico Dragons' makeup by everyone!

Thank you Philip, Chio, Carmel, Su Ling for joining us! We look forward to meeting you in our next event!

New Creation! Ethelinda the Dragon

Wayneston Bears presents:

Ethelinda the Dragon

We are pleased to inform you that we have a new girl dragon, Ethelinda available now for adoption.

She is the first dragon we have made using Viscose mohair. The colour of the fur is unique, it's a blend of tangerine with darker orange tips. Her insets, belly and wings are made of pastel pink mohair.

Ethelinda has needle-felted eyelids. She is five-way jointed and has wire armatures on her arms, legs, back, tail and wings.

Her feet and paws are especially detailed, taking hours to perfect and are made from ultra-suede through needle sculpting.

Her epoxy claws on her paws and feet are individually hand sculpted. She is lovingly filled with a mixture of polyfill and crushed garnets.

Ethelinda is now available on Bear Pile:

Or you may adopt directly from my website:

We hope you like the new dragon, wishing you a wonderful day.

Dear all! I am back from Brisbane this afternoon. It was a long 7 hours flight from Brisbane.

We have lots of pictures to share on our blog, but we will need more time to sort out the pictures and write a short review about the show. We thank you for your patience and please do come back to read more about the show later this week.

I am sharing with you today 2 of my latest dragons. They were both well received by the collectors in Brisbane. Both of them were quickly adopted in the first 2 hours of the show and I am very pleased to have taken a picture taken with their new mums.

WIP Dragons

It's just less than 10 days to my next upcoming event "Winter Wonderland" Teddy Bear and Doll Show in Brisbane!

Time is running out, I have been spending lots of time sewing 2 new dragons for this special event.

They are both now ready, waiting patiently for their claws to be attached onto their hands and feet. Trying to sew another mouse this week, hoping that he will be ready too to show himself at the exhibition!

If you are living in Brisbane, why not drop by the largest teddy bear and doll exhibition in town?
For more information, visit the show website here.

Dragon, Garnie Smith

Garnie Smith is the botanical name for green apple, hence this is how this dragon gets his unique name.

Garnie Smith is final work from the outcome of my hand dyed mohair. He is dyed green using a piece of white mohair. If you look carefully, his backing is still white whereas the fur is green. This gives him an interesting combination and contrast. I am really happy with his final outcome.

I have listed Garnie Smith on Bear Pile. You may find more information about him one BearPile.
Thank you for visiting us today, have a wonderful week ahead! =)

Hugs,
Wayne

Something new, something blue ~ Here comes Blue Ice Mountain Dragon!

I have been making something new, something blue lately and a new dragon named Blue Ice Mountain is born!

Last year my friend Janice Woodard (Booh Bears) has given me 2 pieces of blue Silk Rayon as a gift, they are so beautiful that I wanted to keep them for myself and waiting for a day that I can finally use them for the right creation and the day has finally come! I have never use Silk Rayon before although I have 2 pieces at home but I haven't tried them yet. I keep telling myself that I must be brave one day enough to work on them! Stop chickening out! LOL

I got this dragon's name from an Alcholic drink called the "Blue Ice Mountain", I think this name is pretty cool! I have never tried the drink (I am a bad drinker) but maybe next time I will try ;)

Beside having difference in the material, I have added fins and claws to this dragon. This makes the design complicated and more time consuming but I am having fun :)

Blue Ice Mountain is now available for adoption on my website:
http://www.wix.com/waynelim/waynestonbears/blue-ice-mountain

Have a great week!
Cheers, Wayne
