We had a wonderful evening last Saturday with the Singapore Teddy Bear Lovers group!
Once again, we had the gathering at Evelyn's house. We also has a pot luck session where everyone brought a dish to share with everyone else.
All of us started to arrive from 3.30pm and the dinner commenced at 5.30pm. As you can see, some of the food we brought includes Honey Glazed Gammon Ham, Smoked Duck, Baked Tomatoes, Fried Bee Hoon and Fish Balls. For dessert we had Green Tea Panna Cotta, and of course, a Christmas Log Cake! Evelyn also prepared bottles of Sparkling wine to celebrate this joyous occasion.
We also welcomed Lilian, who was introduced to the group by Ivy. With the Christmas songs humming in the background, we toasted the sparkling wine in the air while feasting on the scrumptious food.

The highlight of the evening was the Christmas Exchange! As agreed in the previous meetup, all of us agreed to make a Teddy Bear from a same pattern and do an exchange. However look at what had happened! All of our bears turned out in various sizes! This could probably be due to the individual printer settings when we print out the bear pattern.
Our Xmas Bear Exchange! |
Not to our surprise, it turned out that most of us didn't want to swap our bears! Some of us are still beginners and unwilling to swap bears as it's they have spent lots of time and effort in making the bear.
As an artist, I can relate to that as I have also been through that stage. However, I am glad this gave everyone, including beginners, to make another bear all by themselves! I am glad that my students are able to complete a bear without my assistance!
In the end only 4 of us, namely Philip, Evelyn, Chio and myself agreed to do a Teddy Bear Swap! The rest of us had a random Christmas Gift exchange as well.
We want to thank Evelyn, for providing us her beautiful house for the Christmas Gathering. It seems like it has unofficially became our Singapore Teddy Bear Gathering headquarters! (Just kidding)
With great food and company, bear making is always fun. We look forward to our next gathering in February next year as we celebrate Chinese New Year. Till then!
Hugs, Wayne
