Wayneston Bears' Tea Party in Canada =)

My Canadian friend, Katie has generously sent me some pictures of her Wayneston Bears collection to share on my blog. These pictures are a gift for my birthday as well, they have really made my day!

I always wonder what happens to my bears after I sent them overseas to their new parents. Are they happy or lonely? Pictures from collectors have always make me happy knowing that they are doing well and enjoying their stay with new friends and parents.

Goodies for my Hatch Day

Alright I am offically a year older by now, sad to accept that I am already in the late 20s :( I applied half day off from work yesterday to watched "The Hunger Game" movie yesterday with a friend, it was a 2.5 hours show and I am glad it was really nice, enjoyed every minute of it. This show is highly recommended, if you want to catch this better do it fast before it's no longer aired in the cinemas.

Every year I would buy myself a gift, as usual I order a bear but it was not ready in time. Hence, I bought myself another gift - A Fountain Pen.

Sailor PROCOLOR 500 Wisteria Violet Fountain Pen

I was introduced to join the Singapore Fountain Pen Lovers (Facebook Group) last month by my design lecturer. This is a group for Singaporeans who love to use and collect fountain pens. I am impressed with the writing style, asthetics and the manufacturing process of these pens. Surprisingly, this group were young in their 20s - 50s. Some of them are gurus, they have even gone to the stage of grinding the pen nibs, mixing their ink and mastering Copperplate Calligraphy.

This is a gift from my Cousin who just came back from Japan. It's a kit to make needle felted lambs. Isn't this cute? Guess what? The write up were all in Japanese and I couldn't undertand a single word! LOL. Anyway, I could still make them with my regular needle felting techniques when I have more time after the Melbourne Bear Show.

A very special present arrived yesterday! It was from my special friend, Joanne. It was a piece of beautiful Grey Faux Fur (My favourite colour!), a vintage book on making stuffed toys and a funny, lovely birthday card. Thank you Joanne for making my birthday extra special! =)

I hate getting old but I love my birthday swaps...

Yeah the birthday swaps have finally arrived. These are the gifts for my birthday this year and I think it's my best birthday ever!

First swap was with a Canadian friend, Katie Fulford. Katie is very talented needle felting artist and a painter. You will be amazed by the intricate details of her felted critters on her Etsy Shop, I have a few of her critter in my collection and I would highly recommend her if you are considering getting an unique gift for your love ones.
This swap was prefect, I have always wanted a painting by her and she agreed, I was thrilled. I sent her Baby Mocha and look what I have got! Katie is generous! I only asked for one bird painting but she sent me 4! These are all beautifully handpainted with water colours, I am going to frame and hang them on my bedroom =)

Baby Mocha

The 2nd swap was with Natalia Oelofse, I sent her a Panda named Pandy. Natalia is a bear artist from South Africa, she is a teddy bear teacher and makes beautiful bears. You can see her creations on her blog here. Isabellina is what she has specially made for me and I really love her. If you have seen a few post ago on our Singapore Bear Lovers gathering, she has already met you =)

Pandy

The last swap was with one of my all time favourite artist, Kelly Dauterman. Does her name sounds familiar? Yes! I am the lucky winner that won her blog give-away 2 years ago =) I won a beautiful bear named Blue Moon and now I am a proud collector of her bears - In total I have 4 of her bears =)
Kelly makes cute, traditional styled bears, each has an unique personality in them. Kelly is very creative, beside bears you can often see some critters such as bunnies, mice, duckies, snowman and even pumpkin man! You can now pop by her blog here to see her charming bears.

What's on my work desk?

I am currently working on 2 dragons, one peach and one green. The green has yellow mohair inset in his tummy, both colours are completely hand dyed and I really love the way he look. The 2 dragons are almost done, waiting for their felted lids and claws and I am planning to complete them by this week.

Sadly, the beautiful cyan mohair which I had dyed at the same time was too small to make a dragon, so I have to make something else with it. I will be working with it after the Melbourne Bear Fair.

We have 3 students attending the Bear Workshop last week, they were doing great! The bear heads are almost complete. They took some of the body parts home to sew and this coming Sunday they will learn to stuff and join their bears! Pictures of the workshop will be share here next week =)
